While we do not support a complete language configuration at this time, users can customize 2 things:
- Most of the map's text strings can be customized.
- A custom map theme from Mapbox can be used that has the language changed.
1. Overriding Map Text
This feature allows you to customize the text within the map theme, such as the search box placeholder text and the link to show the category filters. To see the different text that can overwritten, go to your map theme settings and click "Text Defaults".
This feature will allow you to set the map's text in a different language.
Along with these text customizations, the hours and map details can be configured to support things like the 24-hour clock and kilometers instead of miles.
2. Using a Custom Map Language
This is a bit more involved, but by setting up your own custom theme within Mapbox Studio, you are able to set your own language in the mapping itself. To view instructions on how to use your own custom Mapbox style, click here.
Once you have your own style added to your Closeby account, you can configure the language for the style within Mapbox Studio by editing the components like so:
Please note that the limits of Mapbox Studio and styles are out of our company's control, though it is the best-in-class product that we are confident will be customizable to your hearts content.
